Kindergarten is a stage of learning before compulsory education usually between 3 to 4 years, where kids learn while playing.  The word kindergarten comes from Garman word, kinder means CHILD and Garten means Garden which means child garden. The purpose of kindergarten is to help children learn and develop cognitively, and emotionally which will help them throughout their school and education. Kindergarten class is conducive which catch the attention of the kids to learn with love and interest.

Kindergarten origin

Kindergarten is originated in Germany in 1837 by Friedrich Froebel. It is an early education program for children under 6 years, usually from 4 to 5 years. In Froebel’s kindergarten, children are free to explore the environment and learn at their own pace. They believe that children at the kindergarten didn’t have the ability to focus on what is going on in the class. That’s why kindergarten teachers are encouraging kinder to learn at their own pace.

kindergarten how old?  Many children have social, physical, and rudimentary academic skills, but some children differ.  The best time for a child to start kindergarten is at least 4 years old and those children that are experiencing delay since the early beginning of their lives should start kindergarten at the age of 5.
It’s important for parents to note that their kids are supposed to start kindergarten before the age of 7. Because at the age of 7 a child is supposed to start primary school. Parents who are workers are putting their kids in kindergarten at the age of 3 or less which affects their understanding.

The Kindergarten curriculum largely focuses on mastering  Alphabet including holding a pencil, reading, tracing, identification, and writing the alphabet. The Kindergarten curriculum also includes sounds of letters, two-letter words, and words that begin with alphabet. A kindergarten child should be able to count and identity numbers up to 50, should be able toidentify shapes, and also learn fundamentals of maths like Mathematical signs such as + – x, etc at the end of the year.

As a kindergarten teacher, you need be giving your pupils examples with things around them so they can relate what you are teaching them with what they know, this will help them to understand more about things around them.

2. Be patient

Don’t get angry while teaching your kids, always be patient and be a happy teacher, love them and they will love you too and understand what you are teaching them. They will always love school.

 3. Write lesson plans with teaching methods that suit your pupils.

There are many methods of teaching, but among those methods of teaching, there are methods that are unique for kindergarten like the play way method. Always select those methods that fit your lesson and the level of the children.

 4. Teach them with playing

Kids love playing, they understand while playing. Teach them with singing and playing.

5. Create a conducive environment

A conducive environment is one of the key factors that play an important role in the teaching and learning process. Therefore make your teaching environment conducive. Let’s the pupils Know that they’re learning.

 6. Always use instructional materials that will catch their attention.

Using posters with colorful pictures will help your kids to learn in the simplest way and have an interest while learning.
